    21st Century Medical Achievements

Israel's Rabin Medical Center has always set the highest standard in medical care, pioneering advanced technologies and state of the art equipment to provide the most effective treatments while maintaining its commitment to compassionate care for patients and their families, treating them with humanity and preserving their dignity.

Little is left of the hospital that was established 70 years ago other than the spirit with which it was founded. In the last 10 years, an aggressive expansion and modernization program has resulted in an array of new facilities, including the Gour Shasha hospitalization tower, the Davidoff Cancer Center for the treatment and research of malignant diseases, the Raphael Recanati Genetic Institute for genetic testing and advanced research, the Helen Schneider Hospital for Women, The Jeanne Leven General Intensive Care Unit, The Minimally Invasive Urologic Surgery Unit, The Bone Marrow Unit, The Integrative Medicine Unit, a new hybrid catheterization suite, and many more expansions and improvements.

These facilities have made it possible for Rabin Medical Center to lead the way in advanced medical procedures. The first decade of the 21st century has seen many great achievements, including the first kidney transplant in Israel, a domino heart transplant, the first Israeli brain catheterization, the resuscitation of a fetus in the womb, the resuscitation of a woman after giving birth, the first Israeli permanent artificial heart transplant, a complicated rare surgery in which the spine, neck, and jaw of a patient were realigned, a unique spinal endoscopic procedure as an alternative to a complicated surgery, and numerous life-saving treatments of terror victims, war wounded, and road accident survivors.

In 2012, the new Jusidman Center for Emergency Medicine and Trauma is scheduled to be completed. This 16,000 square foot complex will provide superior emergency care to approximately 150,000 visitors annually. This expanded capacity is urgently needed.

Many new accomplishments remain just below the horizon, but will soon arise, bringing with them hope by offering aid to the infirm and the wisdom to prevent future maladies. Soon, an entire constellation of brilliant medical achievements will adorn even the darkest skies, guiding people throughout Israel and the world to a better future.
