We urgently need the following emergency medical equipment:
USD $360 Laryngoscopes: For quick lifesaving intubations for soldiers
USD $7,500 ER Transport Stretcher: Outstanding mobility, quality and comfort for the transfer of soldiers from place to place
With a range of need from Orthopedic Beds to Linear Accelerators and Two-Headed Cameras for Nuclear Medicine, a major medical center of the caliber and quality of Rabin Medical Center must have the ability to acquire the latest, most cutting-edge medical equipment and scientific technologies. Yet, because of severe cutbacks in funding for the Hospital due to Israel's economy and to the costs of combating ongoing and devastating terrorism, the Hospital has not been able to acquire the vital technologies that it needs, except through the generosity of its Friends. Gifts earmarked for the Fund for Equipment and Technology will make it possible for Rabin Medical Center to fill all its equipment and technological needs as it moves forward in the 21st Century fulfillment of its mission to the State and people of Israel, and beyond.
Donors to this fund have the opportunity to participate in Rabin Medical Center's strategic plan for its facilities, both in terms of new buildings, new wings or other additions to existing structures, and in the Hospital's planned refurbishment of facilities that once served a useful purpose but that now must be upgraded to accommodate the requirements of 21st Century medical care. Of particular interest is the new expansion of the Hospital's 850 sq. m. Trauma and Emergency Care Unit into a 3000 sq. m. Center for Emergency Care and Trauma. This brand new facility will be the first structure one sees upon entering the Rabin Medical Center complex. Its size and capacities will enable the Hospital to maintain its vital role providing state of the art emergency care for more than 70% of trauma incident victims from throughout Central Israel. Major gift donors to this fund will also have opportunity to name, pay tribute to or memorialize loved ones.
Any and all advances in medicine and in medical care come only from research. Medical discoveries and breakthroughs come about through a process that is long and often arduous, filled with many blind alleys, and with brilliant successes built upon the blind alleys of others. Rabin Medical Center - comprising the campuses of both Beilinson and Golda-HaSharon Hospitals, and affiliated closely with Sackler School of Medicine, Tel Aviv University -- is a leader in Israel in medical research; in the year 2000 alone over 3,000 different research projects were under way at Rabin Medical Center and its affiliates! To use cancer research as one example, we've come a very long way from what used to be fifty years ago in the treatment of cancers. Yet, we have not as much come to the beginning of the end, as we have arrived at the end of the beginning. The AFRMC Fund for Research will make you, the donor, a vital and indispensable partner in the only viable process leading to advances in medicine and medical care, and to the cures we seek for ourselves, and for our loved ones.
Although a medical center like Rabin's primary purpose is healing and medical care, of great and ever-increasing importance is prevention. But to achieve a healthier, longer-living population sound health and medical community education is critical. Ranging from good nutrition practice to educating women regarding medication during pregnancy and breastfeeding, Rabin Medical Center engages in providing programming for health and well being to the entire community. Most of these programs are free of charge to the public. All of these programs are in constant danger of being cancelled due to lack of funds. By subscribing to the Fund for Programming and Community Education of AFRMC, donors can make a significant impact on the health of so many of Israel's citizens by enabling the continuity of the Hospital's central role in ensuring their well-being.
